MR. STORY

VALLEY -- Mr. Henry Alvin Story, 80, of Valley died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at the Care Center of Opelika in Opelika, Ala.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 4 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. John Guy Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Fairfax Cemetery in Valley.

Mr. Story is survived by three daughters, Sydelle (Jim) Thyne of College Station, Texas, and Darlaine Story and Denise (Larry) Philpott, both of Valley; nine grandchildren, Jeff McLendon, Phaedra McLendon, Medea McLendon, Tamara Story, Kelly Hinkle, Tony Jackson, Danielle Little, Rachel Philpott and Brian Philpott; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Coma Brooks of Valley and Sara Sanford of Laurenburgh, N.C.

Born June 12, 1921 in Randolph County, Ala., Mr. Story was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the U.S. Army and was a retired self-employed electrician. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Valley, and Woodmen of the World. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Colley Story, and his son, Dwayne A. Story. He was the son of the late Kinney Story and Joseph D. Story.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice in his memory.

The family will receive friends following the funeral service from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Larry and Denise Philpott, 2190 Judge Brown Road in Valley.
