SURGOINSVILLE – Roberta C. Barrett, 88, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday (September 24, 2008) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Barrett was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Amis Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Barrett, her parents, George and Tessie Duncan Crigger, brothers, Pierce Crigger and Johnny Crigger, sister, Lena Gulley.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Worley Barrett, Clamon and Glenda Barrett, all of Church Hill; Roy Barrett, Kingsport; Randy and Jeanette Barrett, Surgoinsville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Kenneth Amis, Church Hill; Betty and Robert Cooper and Judy and Ronald Armstrong, all of Surgoinsville; 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Crigger, Rogersville, Tommy Crigger, Surgoinsville; three sisters, Gladys Goins, Rogersville; Mandy Duncan and Mary Calton, Surgoinsville; several nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to the staff of Church Hill Health Care Center for their wonderful care and to Dr. Mark Jenkins, Dr Richard Dickson, Dr. Steven Baumrucker and Dr. Lucinda Miller and a special thanks to the nursing staff, 3rd floor, Wilcox Hall.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Robert Cooper, 213 Creek Road, Surgoinsville.

Services will be conducted Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Roy Fowler and the Rev. Mike Cutshaw officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Brian Barrett, Jeff Barrett, Craig Barrett, Brad Barrett, Kevin Cooper, Mickey Armstrong and Daniel Gosnell.
