Robert, my dad, was born Louisiana. He was a descendant of the Acadians that came to Louisiana in the 1700's due to British exile. In 1956, both of his parents were killed in a car accident near Cheneyville, LA. He and his sister were sent to live with various relatives until there was no where else to go. They were given to Catholic Social Services by their aunt; from this point on they were raised in orphanages. When Robert was of legal age, he left LA for Michigan. He met and married in 1970; I was born in 1971, my sister in 1981. In 1982 Robert was also killed in a car accident. He is gone, but his life and struggles live on in my memory of him and my research on his life and the Breaux ancestry.
