Crash Kills Mishawakan On Vacation
An extended vacation trip to the Southwest ended fatally Sunday for a rural Mishawaka man who died in a Beaumont, Tex., hospital after his car overturned.
Fred Grover Lutes, 74, of Rt. 20, died of injuries suffered Saturday in the accident just east of Beaumont. His wife, Frieda, riding with him was reported in satisfactory condition at Hotel Dien Hospital in the Texas City. ...
Lutes was born Nov. 19, 1884 in Nappanee. He was a retired Studebaker Corp. employee. Surviving are his widow, four sons, Cloyce K. of Sarasota; Glen R. and Lester F. of South Bend and Warren D. of Michigan City; two dauthters, Mrs Frank Weaver, of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Sherman L. White, of Denver. Eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother, Orville Lutes of Nappanee; two sisters, Mrs. Homer Anglin, of Clunette, and Mrs. Ben H. Naftsgar, of Mishawaka.
