Mrs. Mary Sue Landers Houston Cornell, 86, of Russellville, Arkansas, died Saturday, September 27, 2008, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Cornell was born March 1, 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Lonnie H. and Virginia Mary (Lander) Mason; Sue was the last surviving child of their six children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Lloyd Nolan Landers Sr, husband of ten years Ermon Dewitt "Brunt" Houston.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville and had been a member of Conway's First Baptist Church in earlier years. She was retired from the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service and was a member of NARFE and had served as president of the Down Home Club in Conway (now AARP). Her children remember how she loved to dance.
She is survived by her husband, Corwin E. Cornell of Russellville; son, Lloyd Landers, Jr. and wife Doris of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; daughter, Sydna Daily and husband Don of Russellville; son, Lonnie Landers and wife Judy of Camden, Arkansas; daughter, Mary Haggar and husband Pete of Russellville; son Don Cornell and wife Judy of Plano, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, Shelly, Elizabeth, Andrew, Donnie, Robert, Scott, Susie, Chris, Jerilynne, Larry Jr., Jamie, Rebecca, Lonnie Jr., Jeffrey and Jason; fourteen great-grandchildren;Alley and Stefan Daily, Tyler and Landon Daily, McKenzie Martin,Spencer and Jaidon White,Jarrett and Bradleigh Hindman,Emily and Abbey Cooper, Bailee Landers, Jordan VanSickler and Avery Bales and a number of nephews and nieces.
The family will receive family and friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Shinn Funeral Service in Russellville, 479-968-1212. Funeral will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Shinn Funeral Service, with Bros. Tom Walker and Stephen Davis officiating.
