Her first husband was George Emery, a brother to my father. They had a son, Floyd, and when he was about 9 months old, Aunt Elsie was traveling by train with the baby, through Montana, when he became ill and died. I believe he was buried in Billings, Montana. George Emery died at a young age, and Aunt Elsie then married Charles Winchester. They had a daughter, who was stillborn, so Aunt Elsie never raised any children. All these things happened before I saw her the first time--January, 1919. Aunt Elsie passed away about 2 months before my second daughter was born, which would make it March, 1953, and Uncle Charles Winchester passed away about 2 years later, which would be in 1955. (From a letter by Gladys Emery Lionberger, my Mother.)

My Mother liked to tell the story of how George had T.B. and was dying and knew it. He told Elsie that he would like her to marry his friend Charlie Winchester after he was gone. (George Emery is not to be mistaken for George Rumrill also mentioned on this page.) George Emery passed away in October of 1910 and Charles and Elsie where married in April of 1911.

While researching my family I discovered that George and Alma Rumrill's ashes are scattered in with Charles and Elsie. There is no headstone for them. See the picture of George Rumrill below with Charles and Elsie.
