LAID TO REST

Mrs. Thomas Watson Passes Away Monday - Funeral Held Wednesday Afternoon

Betsy Elizabeth Parsons was born in Wellington, England, February 2, 1836, and died at her late home in Chillicothe, Ill., June 1, 1914, aged 78 ages, 3 months and 29 days. She came to America with her people in 1860 and was married to Thomas Watson, Nov. 16, 1861. They lived in Chillicothe until 1880, when they moved to Kansas where they lived until 1896, when they returned and have lived here since.
To this union nine children were born, four of whom are surviving, namely: Mrs. Logan Murphy, of Chillicothe; John and Philip Watson, of Osage City, Kan; and Harry Watson, of Chillicothe, who together with her husband and two sisters and a host of other relatives are left to mourn her departure.
She was a member of the Established church of England with her home people before coming to America, but never changed her membership from there to an American church.
She never forgot the lesson of early years and never lost her faith in God, but expected to meet Him when the voyage was over.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W.D. Benjamin. The music was furnished by Mrs. Neal, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Hammond and George Hart, Mrs. Benjamin at the organ. Interment in the Northampton cemetery.
