Ella married George Hugh Stokes 13 February 1906 at Bothwell, Utah.

Andrew, Ella's father told Sophia to go get her and bring the children back. Her mother, Sophia with two of her children (Annie & Nina) went to Canada on the train to get Ella and her children. They brought Ella with child and a stillborn girl in a coffin that Ella had had in 1907. This stillborn was a twin and the other twin survived and was named Ruby.

When they came back they took Ella to the doctor and the doctor said she had tb the worst kind. Ella was quarantined in a tent in the front yard and was tenderly taken care of by her mother, who wore a mask and gloves to care for her. No one was allowed in the tent but her mother.

When she was stronger, Sophia, Ella, and daughter, Ruby made the trip to Bothwell. Ella's baby, Lydia was born but Ella didn't regain her health and died. In July, only seven months following her father's death. Inspite of her mother's tender care, Ella died. She left an infant daughter, but shortly after Ella's death, the baby, Lydia died too.

Ella's daughter, Ruby was raised by her father and lived to marry and have a large family.
