BRYSON CITY - Mrs. Manuel Parton, 61, of Lauada, six miles west of Bryson City, died in her sleep Friday night.
She was a native of Swain County and had lived here all of her life. She was a community leader.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sawmill Hill Church, with the Rev. John Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the Sawmill Hill cemetery. Moody Funeral Home of Bryson City is in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are the husband; six sons, Ed of Alarka, Fred and Thad of Bryson City, Grayson of Asheville, Harry and Frank of Lauada; six daughters, Mrs. Hill King, Mrs. Zeke Bailey, Mrs. Ben Winchester, all of Lauada, Mrs. Orville Green of Wilmont, Mrs. Frank McHan of Alarka and Mrs. Venus Watkins of Bryson City.
