Mr. Allen was born July 1, 1921, in Wylie, to John Claude and Elizabeth Elvira Odil Allen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II, and was self employed as operator of several convenience stores in the Wylie area before retiring. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wylie.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ernestine Allen of Wylie; children, Dennis Allen of Howe and De Rhonda Phillips of San Antonio; four grandchildren; brother, Walter Eugene Allen of Pittsburg, Texas; and sisters, Viola Elder of Wylie and Pauline Egnew of Dallas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Wylie with the Rev. A.L. Draper officiating. Burial will be in Wylie Cemetery.
