Genevieve Kohl, the daughter of Lovell O. Thayer and Alma (Jones) Thayer, was born on December 25, 1909 on a farm near Nora, Nebraska. She passed away on January 24, 2004 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 94 years and 30 days.
Genevieve graduated from Ruskin High School. On August 20, 1930 she was united in marriage to Jerome J. Kohl; this union was blessed with three children. The couple moved to Hardy, Nebraska in 1939 from North Platte.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Jerome on April 15, 2000; son, Wallace and two brothers, Marvin and Loren Thayer.
Survivors include her son, Jerry and wife Kay and daughter Nancy Lee Grinstead and husband Bob, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Margaret (Kohl) O'leary of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; two sisters, Dorothy Corman of Superior and Fern Troudt of Nelson; sister-in-law, Lillian Thayer of Superior; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. from the Union Church in Hardy, Nebraska with Pastor Lance Shafer officiating. Interment was in the Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin, Nebraska.
