Early Valley Settler Dies In Montpelier
Estella Lanfere Nebeker, 71, of Afton died Wednesday afternoon in Montpelier Idaho. at the home of a daughter, Mrs A.M. Bridges. Her death was attributed to a heart ailment.
Born in 1882 at Salmon, Idaho, she later moved to Woodruff, Utah and in 1901 came to Star Valley with her husband, Roy Nebeker (deceased June 1944) who she married in Rich County. There were only a small number of families in the valley when they came here.
An active church leader, Mrs Nebeker served as president of the Fairview Relief Society for five years and was secretary of the mutual. She lived at Osmond and Fairview with her family until just a few years ago when she moved to Afton.
The mother of thirteen children, she is survived by eight of them as follows; Edgar Nebeker, Baker, Oregon; Evelyn Bridges, Montpelier; Stanley Nebeker, Fallon, Nevada; Earl Nebeker Salt Lake City; George Nebeker, Afton; Ann Ford, Julton N.Y. and Melva Bisiker, Montpelier.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. int he Osmond Ward. Burial will be at the Fairview cemetery.

Mrs Estella Nebeker, 70 of Afton, Wyoming, died on July 15. The daughter of Ernest D and Annie Lanfere, she was born November 21, 1882 at Albion, Idaho. She married Roy Nebeker in 1901 in the LDS Tmeple in Logan, Mr Nebeker died on June 6, 1944.
Surviving are four sons E.D. Nebeker of Baker, Oregon, Stanley Nebeker of Fallon, Nevada, Earl Nebeker of Salt Lake city and George Nebeker of Afton; three daughters, Mrs Marcell Bridges of Montpelier, Mrs Lester ford of Fulton New York and Mrs Lyle Bissegger of Montpelier; two half sisters, Mrs Amelia Books of Kemmerer, Mrs Leah Neilson of Salt Lake City, a half brother Ivan Thornton of Afton; also 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. July 18 in the Osmond ward chapel, with burial in the Fairview cemetery.
Bishop Leslie Erickson conducted and the opening song "Rock of Ages" was by the Osmond and South Ward Singing Mothers; speaker, Bishop Erickson; vocal duet, 'In The Garden", Ruby Tolman and Louise Crannie; speaker, Bishop Robert Hillstead; duet, "Whispering Hope". Mr and Mrs Hyrum Hirschi; speaker, William Cassity; song, "Vocation" by Singing Mothers; benediction, VaVon Henderson; dedicatory prayer at Fairview cemetery, Bishop Leslie Harrison.
Don L. Chadwick gave the prayer at home; Sherryln Call played the prelude and postlude. Pallbearers were Marcell Bridges, Lyle Bessegger, Edgar, Stanley, Earl and George Nebeker. The Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
