Elaizabeth Nebeker Dies at Age 85
Funeral services were conducted in the Fairview Ward Chapel Tuesday Oct 17, with Bp. E. Morrell Allred conducting for Elizabeth Margotts Nebeker, 85, who died Friday, Oct 13 of causes incident to age at a hospital in Rexburg, Idaho.
Mrs Nebeker was taken form her home in Fairview to Rexburg about three weeks ago by her son, Lester, where she planned to remain for the winter at the home of her daughter (Jane), Mrs William Henry Smith.
Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery. A complete obituary will be published next week.
Services Held for Elizabeth Nebeker
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct 17 at 1 p.m. in the Fairview Ward LDS Chapel. for Elizabeth Nebeker, 85, who died Friday, Oct 13 of causes incident to age at a hospital in Rexburg, Idaho. Bp E. Morrell Allred conducted. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.
Death occurred shortly after she had been taken from her home in Fairview to Rexburg to remain for the winter at the home of her daughter Mrs William Henry (Jane) Smith.
Elizabeth Bestall Margetts Nebeker was born June 17, 1876 at Kivington Park, Yorkshire, England, a daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Bestall. She was orphaned when only two years old at which thime she was adopted by Elder Henry Margetts who was filling a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Elder Shipley his missionary companion adopted her sister Nellie only three weeks old. Both Nellie and Elizabeth were brought to America when these men returned from their missions. They sailed on the steamship "Wyoming" arriving in New York on June 1, 1881.
From New York they went to their home at Paris, Idaho.
Nellie was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah Elizabeth grew to womanhood at Paris and was united in marriage to Aaron Smith Nebeker at Paris, Idaho Oct 18, 1889.
This marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.
They made their home on the shores of Bear Lake and had their first two children there.
In 1902 they moved to Star Valley. Her other seven children were born in Fairview.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Venna, April 1, 1913 and by her husband, Harry on Feb 19, 1931. She worked in almost every home Fairview, where she helped deliv er babies and care for the sick. When the Pead family lost their parents she took care of the children and also Wesley Smith's family.
She was the first grade school cook.
Her surviving sons and daughters are: Mrs William (Jane) Smith, Rexburg, Idaho; Lester and Roward Fairview; William Ogden, Utah; Mrs Lloyd (Norma) Scott, Lorenzo, Idaho; Mrs Walt (Blanche) Roos; Mrs Joe (Alta) Jeppesen, Naples, Idahok; and Ernest Nebeker, Bountiful, Utah.
She is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends who came from out of the valley to attend the services included the following:
