Anna Laura Lowe Dies at Pocatello
Anna Laura Lowe, 63, North Pocatello died Sept 16, 1956 at a Pocatello hospital following a long illness.
She was born Nov 12, 1893 at Afton, Wyo., a daughter of Joseph Patterson and Anna Hardwood Allen. She was married to Martin George Barkdull of Fairview Wyo,. May 11, 1911. To them was born a daughter Elaine. When she was eight months old her father Martin passed away. Later on Feb 19, 1924 Anna Laura was married to James LeRoy Lowe. They lived at Morland, Idaho and later at Wapello and at Mackay until 1930. From then until she passed away she lived at Pocatello, Idaho.
She was active in the Relief Society in Pocatello. She was a member of the War Mothers organization and served two years as second vice-president. A Silver Star mother, she has had eight sons in military service.
she is survived by her husband; nine sons; Sam, Yakima Wash.; DeVar Buhl, Idaho; Joe, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Wesley Blackfoot, Idaho; Billy Mesa Ariz.; Dee, Mackay Ida.; Ted with the Air Force; Grant and Dell, Pocatello, Idaho; four daughters; Mrs Charles (Nola) Allen, Nampa Idaho; Mrs Frank (Nora Lee) Koven, Gunnison, Utah; Mrs Ferrell (Anna Mae) Winger, Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs Leonard (Elaine) Gray, Redondo Beach Calif; four brothers LaVon Allen, Ogden, Utah; Joseph Allen, Afton; Jim Allen Spanish Fork Utah; Charles Allen, Nampa, Idaho; five sisters, Mrs Berk (Artelle) Thompson, Ogden, Utah; Mrs tom (Leona) Parsons, Afton; Mrs Wilford (Ellie) Cazier, Bakersfield, Calif,; Mrs Ezra (Violet) Nowland, Dingle, Idaho; Mrs Eddie (Twila) Erickson, Pendleton Oregon and 23 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Sept 20, 1958 at 11 a.m. at the Seventh Ward Chapel in Tyhee, Idaho with Bishop Wendell B. Ransom officiating. Burial was at the Fairview cemetery under the direction of the Manning Funeral Chapel.
All the children were attendance except two, Bill and Ted. One brother Charlie Allen attended along with many relatives and friends.
Lunch after the burial was served at the home of Mr and Mrs Bill Parsons by the family.
