Captain S. Henry Starr died very suddenly at his home in Starrsville of heart disease Monday, March 28th...Captain Starr was born in Newton County August 25, 1838 and received a collegiate education, graduating from Emory College in the Class of 1859. Among his classmates were: Dr. I.S. Hopkins, Bishop A.G. Haygood, and Dr. J.w. Heidt. In 1861 he enlisted in Company H,, Capt. A.A. Lee, 3rd Georgia Regiment, Col. A.R. Wright. He was in the Army throughout the war and saw much arduous service. After the surrender, he returned home and commenced farming. Later, he went to Texas, where he remained for five years. In 1879, he engaged in the general merchandise business, which has been very prosperous. Mr. Starr is survived by a wife, who, before her marriage, was Miss Nannie Childs, and two children: Mrs. Alice K. Corley and Mrs. Rena Maude Belcher.

Private April 25, 1861,3rd Georgia Infantry. Elected Jr.2d Lieutenant August 29, 1861; 2d Lieutenant July 1, 1862. Appointed 1st Lieutenant of Artillery for Ordnance duty February 25, 1864. Appointed Captain of Artillery January 7, 1865.Surrendered, Appomattox, Va. April 9, 1865. Born August 25, 1838. Died March 28, 1904. Buried family cemetery, Starrsville, Newton County, Ga.
