Broadus Layton Bridwell, 76, of 709 Hunts Bridge Road, husband of the late Betty Hart Bridwell, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at his home. Born in Tuxedo, NC, he was the son of the late Layton and Ellen Tinsley Bridwell and the last surviving member of his family. Mr. Bridwell was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from J.P. Stevens, Slater Plant. He was a Mason with Cooper Lodge No. 282 and a member of Berea Heights Baptist Church.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law: Cindy and Chip Womack of Greenville; two granddaughters, Tori Wilson, Jennifer Williamson and Miranda Womack; two grandsons, Matthew Womack and Jimmy Wilson; two great-granddaughters, Logan Nicole and Macy Victoria Jo Wilson; stepdaughter, Karen Gore and husband Robert of Chesnee; step-granddaughters, Andrea Gore and Fonda Borgnis and step-great-grandchildren, Andrew and Kalyn Borgnis.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday at The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial in Grand View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at The Howze Mortuary. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Cindy Womack, 711 Hunts Bridge Road, Greenville. The Howze Mortuary, Travelers Rest, is in charge of arrangements.
