Marie was a graduate of the Chillicothe, Missouri Business College, in the class of 1930. Soon after her marriage, she began working for Swift and Company in Garden City, Kansas. She was later hired as a bookkeeper for Fairmont Dairy in Garden City, Kansas, working there for a number of years.
At the time of her death, she was working as a clerk and stenographer for the Garden City Production Credit Association. She was very active in the Order of Eastern Star, having served as past worthy matron.
Bill and Marie had one child, a daughter (Billie Mae) who died the day after she was born.
A funeral service for Marie was held on 24 August 1962 at the First Baptist Church in Garden City, Kansas. The Rev. Robert Rusk officiated. Arrangements were made by Phillips Funeral Home.
