Alice Core, 84 died Monday, June 5, 2006. She was born in Apalachicola, FL on June 24, 1921 to Joseph Hodges and Alice Parlin Hodges. After attending Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia, she received her bachelor's and master's degrees from FSCW/FSU where she was a member of Kappa Delta.
In 1943 she married Robert Gavin Jackson and lived in Austin, TX, Apalachicola, FL, Chicago, Il, and Tallahassee, FL. After her first husband's death in 1974, she married George Y. Core in 1980 and moved to Port St. Joe where she lived until her death. Mrs. Core was involved in Friends of the Library, Episcopal Churchwomen, GALA and the Indian Pass Book Club. She is survived by her husband, daughter and husband; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Alice Core will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Port St. Joe, FL. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Apalachicola.
