He was married December 24, 1861 to Amanda Zana Shaw in Marysville, Ohio. To this union were born 10 children, four of which died in infancy. At his departure he leaves behind him his wife, six children: W. G. Beard, Bonnie,Ill., Harry S. Beard, Belmont, Ill., L. N. Beard, Billet, Ill., and Ennis R. Beard, Peoria, Ill., 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Beard united with the Antioch Christian Church west of Sumner, some 30 or 40 years ago and later transferred his membership to the Sumner Christian Church, where he was a member at the time of his death.

The deceased and his wife lived together here in this life of mingled joys and sorrows for more than 55 years. May an eternal life of nothing but joy and happiness be theirs together in the world to come.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock at the Sumner Christian Church, conducted by Rev. J. A. Tracey, with internment at Antioch, Cemetery.
