Barry "Archie" Small, of Akron, died Thursday May 16, 2002 at his residence from a house fire.

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday May 21, at Akron-Westfield School new gymnasium with the Rev. Larry Madsen of First Baptist Church in Akron officiating. Pianist was Camrnie Quitt, with Megan Raulston and Phil Schomer as soloists. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Pall bearers were the "Akron Fire Department" with honorary pallbearers his nieces and nephews, Stacey, Ashley, Shane, Jeremey, Jeanelle, Tim, Michelle, Justin and Joshua. Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron was in charge of arrangements.

Barry Small was born October 30, 1959 in Akron, the son of Kenneth and Evelyn (Baldwin) Small. Barry graduated from Akron High School in 1978 where he was class president. Mr. Small was employed by the Plymouth County Secondary Roads Department where he was a Motor Grader Operator.

Mr. Small was a member of the Akron City Council, Akron Fire Dept. and former member of the Akron Ambulance, First Baptist Church in Akron where he served as a Men's Baptist Group Leader. In his free time Mr. Small was an avid race fan.

Mr. Small is survived by his parents. Kenneth and Evelyn Small; one sister, Valerie Malenosky, and her husband, Mike, of Sioux City; four nieces, Stacey, Ashley, Michelle and Jeanelle; five nephews, Shane, Jeremey, Tim, Justin, and Joshua.

Mr. Small was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Oscar and Sereldia Baldwin and paternal grandparents, Avery and Grace Small; one brother, Doyle Small; and one sister, Joceyle Baker
