FM Morris was born on the little farm in the Pleasant Grove Community that his mother and father lived on. He grew up as a farmer's son and his life wasn't always a pleasant one. In 1861, when the War Between the States started, he was too young to fight so (he) was left at home to help with the farm work. While still on the farm he married Annie Mildred Griffin.

Along about 1893, F. M. Morris left the farm with his family and moved to Bamberg. Some of the children worked in (the) cotton mill for a while. Later they moved to Augusta, GA. where the children continued work(ing) in the cotton mills. The father opened a grocery store. During their stay, another child (a boy) was born on 12/6/1897 and lived only 5 days (however, death date recorded in another area of the family Bible as 12/21/1897).

Sometime between 1904 and 1906 he moved his family to Walterboro where he farmed for a while. His wife (Annie Mildred Griffin) died 4/25/1928. He lived with different ones of his children until he died (on) 1/11/1936*, just a few days short of his 84th birthday. They are buried in Doctor's Creek Cemetery".
* Tombstone lists death date as 1-10-1936.
