Doris (Nelson) Bohling, daughter of Soren and Anna, nee Petersen, Nelson was born near Hardy, Nebraska, on November 6, 1922. She was baptized February 13, 1923, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on May 21, 1950.
She was a graduate of Hardy High School in 1940 after which she taught in a rural school for two years before enrolling at Lincoln School of Commerce. After completing her business course she was employed at KFAB radio station in Lincoln and later at Hardy State Bank in Hardy.
She was married to Walter Alderman February 17, 1945. Five children were born to them, Bruce, Gordon, Douglas, Mark and Sheila. Combined with caring for her family, she served as Ruskin Public School secretary and operated a grocery store in Ruskin for a few years.
On March 8, 1963, she was married to Harlan Bohling of Deshler. His three children, Randy, Tom and Patty were included in the family circle. The family lived on a farm near Davenport until 1977 when they moved to Deshler. While living in the Davenport community, Mrs. Bohling was employed as a school cook and also worked at a cafe for several years.
In later years she suffered much illness. She died June 20, 1983, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1965 and father in 1980. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Orval Bargen (Florence) of Superior, Mrs. Eugene Schultz (Geraldine) of Ruskin and Mrs. Kenneth Pedersen (Loetta) of Hardy.
She is also survived by her husband, Harlan; the eight children: Bruce and Douglas of Lincoln, Randy, Tom and Patty (Elting) of Davenport, Gordon of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mark of Hershey and Sheila (Reinke) of Omaha; and 19 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 22 at Deshler and interment was in Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin.
