Pfc. Michael R. Dinterman of Littlestown, Pennsylvania attended Littlestown High School during his freshman and sophomore years and went on to graduate in 2006 from Bowling Brook Preparatory School in Carroll County, Maryland where he was a member of the football team. He enrolled in Harrisburg Area Community College at the beginning of the 2007-08 academic year, but decided to enlist in the Army the following January. Michael enjoyed all types of sports including football, baseball, and basketball and especially enjoyed going to the beach. Michael enlisted in the Army in January because he wanted to do something with his life. He wanted to become a ranger and eventually join the SWAT team. He died at Outpost Restrepo, Kunar Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he received enemy fire while on dismounted patrol. He was 18. He was preceded in death by one nephew, Noah M. Gladfelter.
