"H.W. Weathers Died Saturday At Age of 84 - Funeral services for Henry Walter Weathers, 84, of Rt. 2, Big Sandy, were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Gladewater Church of Christ. Mr. Weathers died Saturday at a Gladewater hospital. Born in Union County, Ark., on Jan. 18, 1876, he had lived in Upshur County for the last eighteen years. He married the former Minnie Fannin at Oak Hill and on Christmas day they had observed their 63rd wedding anniversary. A member of the Church of Christ for more than 60 years, he was a farmer and a carpenter. Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Dewey Weathers, Ajo, Ariz.; Randall Weathers, Abilene; Walter Weathers Jr. of Houston; Jewell Hawkins, Rt. 2, Big Sandy; Thula Dunagan, Gladewater; Christine Blackstone, Springdale, Ark.; Correne Nickolson of Plainview; three brothers, Oscar Weathers, Tyler; Lee Weathers, Abilene; and Frank Weathers, New Diana; a sister, Mrs. Lula Webb, Winnsboro, La.; thirteen grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Burt Groves and Curtis Allen conducted the funeral services. Burial was at Gladewater Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Joe Propes, Lawrence Galbraith, Bob McCourt, Orvil McPherson, Jack Dunagan and Frank Scizor. Croley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."
