GRIM REAPER CALLS J.F. BROWN SR.
HAS SUFFERED FROM A STROKE OF PARALYSIS FOR THREE MONTHS

The many friends of J.F. Brown Sr. will be grieved to hear of his sad death which occurred late last night April 19th.
Mr Brown was apparently in the best of health until Jan 19 when he was stricken with a paralytic stroke. It was feared at that time that he would immediately pass out, but he partially recovered his health except that his speech was lost. He could hear and understand what people said but could not talk. About two weeks ago he had another stroke which laid him up for a few days. Then again last Wednesday morning he had a third one and little hope was held for his recovery since then. He kept failing until late last night when the end came.
He is survived by four boys and one girl, his wife having died on December 23, 1919. The boys all of whom are married are J. Fred Jr., Chas., Willard and Loraine. His daughter Edna is not married, having recently returned form a mission to the eastern state.
Mr Brown came to Star Valley in 1935 accompanied by his wife and a family by the name of Dinsdale. They came by way of Stump Creek camped where Auburn now stand, proceeded to the present town-site of Afton then decided to make their home on Crow Creek. They settled on the ranch now known as the Brown ranch.
Mr and Mrs brown had some interesting experiences as well as many hardships during their first few years in Star Valley. Only a few families were here when they arrived. During the fall of the year of their arrival, C.D. Cazier, O.H. Eggleston and Arthur Clark arrived and took places.
Mr Brown has been a successful rancher and has done much buying and selling of cattle. He was always able to get plenty of credit to carry on this business. He was well respected i the community for his honesty and integrity. He seemed to possess much foresight as to what future conditions would be and consequently was prepared for every emergency. When everyone else in the valley was out of hay on several occasions he has been able to supply them and many of his neighbors will say that in many instances that has saved them losses.
Fred has a host of friends all of whom extend their sympathy to the surviving members of the family.
