Charles William Brown, 86, pioneer resident and Fairview merchant and farmer for many years, died Sunday April 22, 1973 in a Logan Utah hospital of causes incident to age.
Funeral services were scheduled Thursday, April 26 at 1 p.m. in the Fairview Ward Chapel, with Bp Harvey Kennington conducting, Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
He was born Dec 25, 1886 in Fairview Wyo. to James Frederick and Esther Amelia Marriott Brown. He lived most of his life in Fairview where he operated a farm and a general store for 40 years. He was also in the trucking business.
He was married to Julia Teola Rainey Aug 24, 1917 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He taught school a few years after his marriage.
He was active in the LDS Church, serving as a counselor in the Fairview Ward Bishopric, as a member of the Star Valley Stake High Council for 12 years, a two year mission in the Western States Mission, a short term mission in the Northern States Mission, a short term mission in the Central states Mission (with his wife) and two stake missions.
Since his retirement some years ago he has resided at Logan, Utah.
He was instrumental in the organization of the Star Valley Swiss Cheese Company and a member of the board of directors for many years. He also served as a member of th4e board of education of School District No. 19 for 14 years.
Survivors included his widow, Julia; three sons Judge C. Stuart Brown of Kemmerer; J Reed Brown of Fairview and Lynn R. Brown of Salt Lake City; three daughters, Mrs Carol Barrus of Fairbanks, Alaska, Mrs Paul (Lois) Harrison of Torrance, Calif.; and Mrs Dean (Ruth) Holt of Evanston.
He is also survived by two brothers, J. Lorraine Brown of Logan, Utah and Willard Brown of Fairview; and one sister, Mrs. Edna Allen of Logan, Utah. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and four great grandchildren,
Charles Brown, a former resident of Fairview, died in Logan Sunday during the night. Funeral services were scheduled Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Fairview Church. Mr Brown was a long-time merchant who operated the only store in Fairview for years until his retirement when he and his wife, the former Teola Rainey of Freedom, moved to Logan. It has been said that Charlie was the first white child born in Fairview. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, both young and old.
