Israel Putnam Causey was the 7th child of Israel Causey and Margaret Foyle.

Israel was a Private in the Civil War. He enlisted on March 4, 1862 with Company "K", 41st Regiment, Campbell County Salt Springs Guard. His nephews, the sons of his half sister, Celia Ann and Wells Joiner served with him in Co. K. They were Green, John, Thomas, and Robert. He died in Chattanooga Tn. in 1862.
