A horrible story is reported on our streets from LaCrosse, this county. A certain Gust Rosenbaum returning home at night in a drunken condition threatened to kill his wife and children. The wife in her terror took her children and escaped to the outside but unfortunately forgot the baby which was sleeping in its crib, from the noise the baby awoke and the murderous fiend lifted it from its bed and dashed it with all his force to the floor. Aroused by its cries the poor mother rushed to its rescue and with it fled to a neighbor where the child shortly died presumably from its injuries. No inquest was held and the matter is hushed up as much as possible.
