OBITUARY

Mrs. C.E. Magown: The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Magown, will learn with much sorrow of the death of this estimable lady, who was among the first settlers of Grant county. The following data of her life and death are received from the family and published agreeable to their wishes that the many friends of the deceased may learn of the sad event:

Iona V. Clester was born in Mercer county, Ohio, Jan. 27, 1859, died at South Milford, Indiana, Aug. 18, 1903, aged 44 years, 6 month, 22 days.

She was married to Charles E. Magown Sept. 23, 1881. In the spring of 1882 they went to Kansas, where they resided (in Sumner Co.) until the opening of the Cherokee Strip, when they were among the first to enter the new country, and settled four miles east of Medford, and resided there until two years ago. On account of ill health of Mrs. Magown, they returned to Indiana, hoping the change would do her good, but she continued to fail and she was soon confined to her bed and suffered greatly until death came to relieve her.

She leaves a husband and four children, an aged father, four sisters, three brothers, to mourn her loss. She was a member of the German Baptist church, uniting with it several years ago. Mrs. Magown was a true Christian, and when the end came she was ready to go.
