Lucinda Clester was born 29 Oct 1845 in Macedon, Mercer County, Ohio; one of ten children born to William and Ellen (Gibson) Clester.

Lucinda was united in marriage 15 Jul 1865 in Keithsbury, Illinois with John William McGee; one of six children born to Thomas and Margaret McGee.

John served his country during the Civil War, enlisting in 40th Ohio Volunteers, discharged 18 Mar 1865. He was a survivor of Andersonville Prison and also Libby Prison.

Lucinda and John were the parents of six children:

1. Minerva "Minnie" Jane born 1866 married Ulysses G. Vanderwork
2. William "Bill" Elmer born 1871 married Inza Elba McCammon
3. Ella "Ellie" born 1873 married James F. Hency
4. John Herbert (1876-1901)
5. Jennie (1877-1878)
6. James Robert "Robbie" born 1880 married Dest Ardella McCammon

Lucinda passed away 12 Mar 1895 in Peck, Sumner County, Kansas at the age of 49 years. She was laid to rest in Porter Cemetery, London Township, Sumner County, Kansas.

Lucinda's siblings, Samuel, John C. and Elizabeth (Clester) McAfee, are also located here.

John passed away 19 Feb 1917 in Peck at the age of 80 years. He was laid to rest in Porter Cemetery with Lucinda.
