Earl D. Lingle, 80, was born February 13, 1899 in Gresham, Oregon, the son of James William and Myrta May Hoagland Lingle. He grew up and received his elementary education in Gresham. He attended the Benson Poly Tech and received his training as a machinist. After he graduated he served in the U.S. Army and was in the Officers Training program at the Oregon Agricultural College in Corvallis, Ore. He worked in the Gresham area until moving to Long Beach, Ca. where he owned and operated his own machine shop, the Dale Arrow Machine Shop. He sold the business and returned to the northwest, settling in the Gaston area, in 1962. Mr. Lingle was united in marriage May 7, 1949 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Norene Pryor. Since moving to the Gaston area they have lived at Rt. 2 Box 464. Mr. Lingle enjoyed taking care of his fruit trees and gardening. Mr. Lingle died following an extended illness at the Veterans Hospital in Portland. He is survived by his wife, Norene Lingle of Gaston. Also surviving is one son, Richard E. Lingle, of Gaston; and one brother, Willis Lingle of Bozeman, Montana. Three Sisters, Mrs. Harry (Ruth) Rounsefell, Boring, Or.; Mrs. Lyle (Clara) Northrup, Stanwood, Wa.; and Mrs. Royal (Lola) Nelson of Citrus Hgts., Ca. Five grandchildren also survive.
