William Joseph Medley, 61 years old, died Monday December 1, 1958, as he was being taken to the hospital, after suffering a heart attack. He had just returned from a truck trip to Louisville when he suffered the attack at home. The attack was not thought to be serious and he was going to the hospital for a few days rest and a check-up.

Mr. Medley was a prominent farmer and trucker of the Flaherty community all his life.He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Eugene Medley and a brother, former sheriff, Alex Medley.

He married Lillian Russell Burnett on January 24, 1922 at St. Martins Catholic Church in Flaherty, Kentucky. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lillian R. Medley, and four sons Joseph Lamar Medley of Valley Station, William Randal Medley of Flaherty, James Merlin Medley of Valley Station, Charles Ralph Medley of Louisville; three daughters Mrs. Jack (Hellen Dorothy) Duncan of Columbus, Indiana, Mrs. Anthony (Mary Jo) Brown of Flaherty and Miss Lillian Joyce Medley of home; one brother, Charles Medley of Louisville; four sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Whelan of Louisville, Mrs. Cordova Powers of Owensboro, Mrs. Charles Crutcher and Mrs. Joe A. Hager of Flaherty and fifteen grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Martin Catholic Church by Father Paul M. Russell. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
