Edwin G Dreher, 78, died Dec 19, 1997, at the Ellis Good Samaritan Center, where he had been a resident for two years. He was born Nov 16, 1919, to Jerome "Roney" and Pauline (Rupp) Dreher.

He married Mabel M Quint on Nov 17, 1941, in Victoria.

He was a veteran of World War II and had been a meat cutter at Safeway Stores for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Bishop Cunningham Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, all of Hays.

Survivors include two sons, Edwin Jr, Halstead, and Terrence, Casper, Wyo; a daughter, Shirley Fisher, Hays; four brothers, Wendelin, Hays, Celestine, Topeka, Ray and Elmer, Seattle, Wash; two sisters, Ella Beilman, Wichita, and Mildred Schumacher, Hays; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, Dec 27, 1995, a brother, Julius, and a sister, Amelia Schenk.

Services were Dec 22 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Don Zimmerman officiating; burial in St Joseph Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion. Hays Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the church or the Ellis Good Samaritan Center.
