Martin McIntyre was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Whisenhunt) McIntyre (firstborn to Elizbeth, but first of his second family to Joseph). He was first married to Susan Chapman. To this marriage was born four children: Kate, Steven, Gould, and Elizabeth "Lizzie." Martin was a farmer and itinerant preacher. Susan died in the summer of 1896, and Martin remarried the following year in June to Sarah Ann Gear (Geer). He died six weeks later of an apparent heart attack while he was chopping wood. A son was born to this union the following April 30, 1898 and named John Martin McIntyre.

Gravesite Details
Name and date on stone are erred. Martin had a brother named John, so it's unlikely his name was also John. His son John Martin, born after his death, carved the tombstone in his adulthood. 1860, 1870, & 1880 censuses show Martin's birth c. 1856.
