William Kibler, son of the late Theobald and Susan Kibler, early settlers of Crooked Creek, was born in Ohio, Sept. 6, 1832 and passed to eternal rest at his home in Rose Hill, Tuesday morning, Dec. 31, 1918, aged 86 years, 3 months and 24 days, following a short illness of pneumonia. He came to Jasper County and located near Rose Hill with his parents when but 14 years of age and has constantly resided in this vicinity for more than 70 years. Six brothers and four sisters had preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, a faithful and loving companion for many years; a daughter from a former marriage, Mrs. Della Newman of New York City; two brothers, George of Mattoon and Solomon of Rose Hill; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Short funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday morning by Brother George Winter, after which interment was made in the Andrews cemetery. Mr. Kibler was a member of a family that is noted for its longevity, his father having attained the ripe old age of 93 years when death called him.

The Kibler family, and those bearing a similar name in Jasper county are all related, which is in itself a trademark for sociability, courtesy and industry; as those characteristics are peculiar to those with whom the writer is acquainted - a great host of them - who have figured very conspicuously in the history and progress of Jasper County.--W.I. Ross, Jan. 13, 1919
