Services for Harry Edward Alford of Cleveland, 80, retired farmer, were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Yale Street Baptist Church.... Interment was in the New Cleveland Cemetery with Thweatt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Alford died Monday [May 2] at 9:45 _.m. at his residence here after an illness of four weeks.

A native of Carroll County, he was schooled there, and married the former Carrie Stanford in 1905. They moved to Holmes County and later to Bolivar County where he engaged in farming until his retirement _ years ago. He was a member of the Yale Street Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carrie S. Alford of Cleveland; two sons, Billy Alford of Jackson and Edgar E. Alford of Bossier City, La.; three daughters, Mrs. Vick J. Kober of Jackson, Mrs. Henry Gilmer of Memphis, and Mrs. John Brandeau of Cleveland; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Charles Stanford of Greenville, Earl Washington of Cleveland, Alton Washington of Shaw, Carl Thomas Stanford, James Walter Stanford and Lamar Stanford of Skene, [handwritten notation added:] Clarance Pate and Wilbur Wilson.
