He was born Aug. 28, 1908, in Canan Station, son of John P. and Elizabeth (Malone). He married Mildred P. Williams Nov. 13, 1933, in Altoona. She died May 11, 2003.
Mr. Housum was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
He retired as a car repairman from the Penn Central Railroad in 1973 after 47 years of service.
Mr. Housum served as a staff sergeant for the Coast Guard Auxiliary and helped in the mapping of Raystown Lake. He enjoyed boating and fishing.
He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, German-American Retirement Club, Swiss Rifle Club, Frohsinn Singing Society, the Lions Club and Catholic War Veterans.
Surviving are a daughter, Latrisha McGlynn of Lake Havasu, AZ; a son, Dennis D. Housum of Duncansville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-greandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Housum of Dearborn, Mich. He was preceded in death by two daughters; Greatchen Weyandt and Carol Black; and many brothers and sisters.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Scaglione Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
