US Congressman. Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, he engaged in manufacturing, banking, was a delegate to the Republican Pennsylvania State convention in 1886, a member of the New Castle City Council, (1887-93) and Sheriff of Lawrence County, (1897-1900). In 1911, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-second Congress, serving until 1913. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his previous business interest, was a delegate to the Republican National Convention at Chicago in 1916 and Commissioner Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, (1928-32). He died at age 76 in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
