Uncle Billy rememberd his father, George Whitley, 1735, and his brothers returning from the American Revolutionary War.
His father was carrying a Charleville Rifle which is now in the possession of Daniel Whitley.
This gun was made in France and supplied to the American Forces by the French Government.
Billy fired the gun at a July 4th Celebration in 1890 at a family reunion.
He made a speech at the reunion and his parting words were, "Prepare to meet thy God." He told the crowd that he was 115 years old and this would be his last reunion.
