I've been doing genealogy research since 1990. I've asked other researchers why they are involved in geneaology and the answer is always the same, "because I was chosen."
I started with only my grandfather Edmund Russell's name on the Russell side. I knew he was born in Randolph County, NC.
The Whitleys were always having reunions so I knew more about my mothers family. Also, a cousin had written,"Whitleys of NC." My mother had received a request for information from him and I followed up on his letter to update his records.
From then on, I was hooked.
