Obituary Notice:

Joseph Krampf, 82, of the 3800 block of Environ Blvd., died Aug. 9, 2003, in his residence.

Mr. Krampf was a native of Norfolk and was a founding member of Temple Israel in Norfolk. He was the son of the late Samuel and Bessie Jacobson Krampf and was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalie Gordon Krampf, and his son, Melvin Krampf. He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II and was the former owner of Queens, Main Event and other taverns in Norfolk.

Mr. Krampf was a member of Brith Sholom. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and is survived by his wife, Barbara Ungar Krampf of Lauderhill; a daughter, Miriam ''Cookie'' Miles and her husband Richard of Virginia Beach; two stepdaughters, Beth Dorsk and her husband, Barry, of Virginia Beach, Elyn Madnick and her husband, Gregg, of Huntingdon Valley, Pa.; a stepson, Ira Koonan of Williamsburg; a sister, Mildred Beller of Baltimore, Md.; a daughter-in-law, Hilde Klein and her husband, Stephen, of Clifford Park, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Cisco Drory of Norfolk; 13 grandchildren, Jeff Krampf and his wife, Jodi, Susan Krampf and Michael Klein, Amy Bosher and her husband, Jason, Melissa and Scott Miles, Chad, Justin and Mitchell Dorsk, Sarah Koonan, Jamie and Jake Madnick and Melissa Bethea and her husband, Timothy; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A chapel service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, by Cantor Elihu Flax and Cantor Emeritus Isaac Danker. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at 2417 Ocean Shore Crescent 401 following the funeral service. Memorial donations may take the form of contributions to Temple Israel or the American Heart Association.
