Robert Lee "R.L." Tallent, 66, of Primrose Drive, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday morning, August 6, 2008, at his home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Davidson Funeral Home by Bishop Ronnie Shaw and the Rev. Pat Eller. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.

Mr. Tallent was born April 7, 1942, in Rutherford County to Marvin Tallent and Lillie Calloway Tallent. He was employed with Billings Trucking Company with 29 years of service. Mr. Tallent was a charter member of Faith Chapel and also supported Rev. Pat Eller at Original Church of God. He and his wife, Ruby Carter Tallent would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this October. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Foster and Marie Mullis.

In addition to his wife of the home he is survived by two daughters, Penny Smoot and husband, Mike, of Thomasville and Candy Smith of Lexington; four grandchildren, Andrew Huffstetler, Tiffany Smith, Hayley Smith and Corey Jones; brothers, Russell Tallent and wife, Lillian, of Advance, and Rev. James M. Tallent and wife, Doris, of Yadkinville; and sisters, Frances Hamilton, Rev. Margaret Garretson and husband, Johnny, and Nadine Spillman and husband, Clarence, all of Mocksville.
