Barbara Lou Zapp was the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Zapp. Barbara married William Lewis Cardinal on October 16, 1869 in Jefferson County, Indiana. William and Barbara had 12 children, William Mathew "Matt" Cardinal, Oscar John Cardinal, Emma Charlotte Cardinal, Arthur Cardinal, Phillip Cardinal, Albert Cardinal, Amelia "Melia" (Cardinal) Walters, Aaron Cardinal, Chauncey Cardinal, a female twin to Chauncey, Margaret Eleanor "Maggie" (Cardinal) Weis and Benjamin Harrison Cardinal.

MRS. WM. CARDINAL DEAD.
Funeral Services for Dupont Resident to be Held Wednesday.
Mrs. Barbara Cardinal, 93 years of age on August 6, died this morning at 10:00 o'clock at the home of her son, Aaron Cardinal, two miles east of Dupont. Death was attributed to infirmities of advanced age.
Mrs. Cardinal was a highly respected resident of the Dupont community and was widely known thruout that section of the county. She is survived by her husband, William L. Cardinal, five sons, Chauncey, of Dupont, Albert, of Monroe township, O. J. Cardinal, of near Lancaster, Phillip, of Bloomington, William of Fredericks Halls, VA., and Aaron with whom she and her husband had been making their home for the past 30 years. She leaves also two daughters, Mrs. Nick Weiss, and Mrs. Amelia Walters, both living near Canaan.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Hebron church and burial will be in the church cemetery.
