Amanda Addie Craig was the only child and daughter of William Thomas Craig and Mary J. Craig. Addie was born in Malden, Dunklin, Missouri.

Amanda married George W. Wood on 26 November 1879, in Breckenridge, Stephens, Texas.

They eventually moved to Winkler county, Texas and lived there for an undetermined amount of time. They were listed on the 1900 census in this county. They were married for 20 years at that point. George & Addie only had one child and they named her Maggie M. Wood and she was born in March 1885.

The 1910 census reports Addie as having only 1 child and "0" living. So Maggie died prior to the 1910 census being taken. The date and place of death is unknown, as well as the cause. I'm sure Addie and George were devastated by the loss of their only child. I do think it noteworthy that Addie lost both her mother and then her daughter---both dying while they were still quite young.

The Wood family relocated to Whitesboro, Grayson, Texas before 1910 and that's where they lived until both Addie and George entered the Knight's of Templar's nursing home in Arlington, Texas. Addie was a resident of that home for a period of 7-years before her death in 1940. Her husband, George lived there for 16 long years. Both of their death certificates listed "Senility" as being the main cause of their deaths.

To my knowledge, neither George or Addie had family living nearby and I suppose they were not involved with their burials. Addie was buried under "Mrs. G. W. Wood" and George's marker reads "G.W. Wood". I think it somewhat sad that more wasn't done for them.
