Parents: Henry Owsley (b. 4 April 1816, TN; d. 23 April 1897, Calistoga, Napa Co., CA) and Frances Cyrus (b. 20 January 1819, Grainger Co., TN; d. 27 May 1855, Calistoga, CA). Both are buried in the Calistoga Pioneer Cemetery.
The family came to California in 1846 in a wagon train. The extended family consisted of Cyrus's, Owsleys, and Nashes. Their wagon train was ahead of the Donner Party and thus missed getting trapped in the early snow storms.
Frances' brother, John Cyrus, married Lovina Graves, a Donner Party survivor.
