Born In Missouri.
Mrs. Brown had traveled by ox team to California when she was a child. The family stopped first at Sutter's Fort, and then came to Yountville, and later to Calistoga. Mrs. Brown's sister, Mrs. Sarah Holton of Berkeley, was the first white child born in this community.
Mrs. Brown's marriage to Thomas Carlton Brown took place in 1861.
Children who mourned her passing were Henry C Brown of Fortuna, Mrs. T.H. Johnson of San Leandro, and Mrs. I.C. Adams of Calistoga.
Mr. Brown preceded his wife in death by some 29 years.
Funeral services, held at the Adams home in Calistoga, were followed by interment in the Calistoga cemetery.
