Michael Merian Lloyd was born March 1, 1827, and died at his home near Quicksburg, Virginia, January 4, 1903; aged 75 Years, 10 months and 3 days. He died suddenly and unexpectedly, but we believe he was prepared to obey the summons, and that he is forever at rest. He had been baptized in infancy, and was afterward confirmed in the Lutheran Church by the late Rev. Jacob Stirewalt, and at his special request his funeral was preached by the writer of this notice. He was regarded an upright, industrious, peaceable man. He lived in the marriage relation since August 31, 1856. He is survived by his wife, nine of his ten children, two sisters, and other relatives and friends. He was a Confederate soldier and many of his comrades in arms followed his remains to the grave. J.P.S.

Mr. Michael Lloyd, an ex-Conferate veteran in his 76th year, died very suddenly at his home near here Sunday morning, and was buried at Solomon's Church today. His remains were followed by a large concourse of friends, relatives, and Confederate veterans of Neff-Rice Camp, as well as others who are not members of any organization. The Confederate ranks are thinning rapidly - a few more years and all will "have passed over the river to under the shade of the trees."
