Florence Johnson Clawson, born September 23, 1912 in El Paso, TX to Anna Elesa Fredericksen and Ivan Claire Johnson, passed away at the age of 95 on August 11, 2008 at CareSource Hospice in Holladay, Utah.


Married Marion Lawrence Clawson on September 27, 1935 in the Mesa Temple. She had six sons and one daughter. After living in Arizona they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in June 1954. Marion died on September 4, 1967. Florence held many callings in the LDS Church in the Primary, Relief Society and was Cub Scout den leader as long as she had boys in cub scouting. She was known for her cooking and the many cakes she made. She participated as a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Stratford Camp. She was involved in the German Extraction program for over 20 years. She loved her family and all the family parties. They were such a delight to her. Friends and relatives were always welcomed in her home. Whenever leaving, she always expressed an "I love you" and gave you a kiss. She loved her sons and daughter who have spent nights with her for the last two years.


Florence is survived by her seven children, Lawrence Allen (Robin deceased), Karen Marie (Bob) Brown, Dale Marion (Faye), Neil Robin (Bev), Hugh Erwin (Melva), Edwin Wayne (Karen) and Gregory James; 25 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline Judd and sister-in-law, Myrtle Poulter. Preceded in death by her husband, Marion Lawrence; granddaughter, Anna; daughter-in-law, Robin; siblings, Bea, Ivan, Bill, Rupert, Charles, Mary, Richard and Walter.


Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008 at noon, at the Stratford Ward Chapel, 2605 South 1500 East. A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 14th from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive (1900 East) and at the Church one hour prior to the services.
