Marvin "Marty" Lewis Sowell, age 53, died suddenly at his residence in the Calvary Community of Brantley County Wednesday (August 7, 2008).

He was a native of Atlanta, GA but had made his home in the Ware County area for the past 15 years, and was a former self-employed computer repairman. He had formerly served with the US Army and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Riverdale, GA and was preceded in death by his father Elmer Franklin Sowell.

Survivors include his mother: Dorothy Wynell Thrift Sowell, Hoboken; a sister: Angela Elliott, Hoboken; a brother: Jerry Sowell, (wife Kalena), Atlanta; 2 nephews: William Cody Elliott and Jessy Colt Elliott and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday (August 12, 2008) in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Glennville, GA. The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Music Funeral Home.
