CHEEK George A. Jr., age 76, of Midwest City, was born March 6, 1924 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to George and Viva (Boydston) Cheek. He passed from this life June 10, 2000.

Mr. Cheek was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WW II. He received his Associates of Arts at Conner State College in Warner, Oklahoma, his Bachelor of Science at East Central in Ada, Oklahoma and his Masters at the University of Oklahoma.

He was employed by Crooked Oak High School, Science Research Associates and then was retired from the Oklahoma Department of Education.

Mr. Cheek served on the Midwest City Council for eight years. He was also affiliated with Sooner Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 52 1/2 years, Norma Cheek; two sons, George A. Cheek Ill and Mike Cheek; seven grandchildren: Shanie and Preston Cheek, Chris and Kelly Cheek, Jordan Cheek, and Didre and Jamie Palesano. He is also survived by his brother Clayton Cheek and his sister Cleo Bogart. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bernice Taylor, and brother J.D. Cheek.

He will be greatly missed by a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at the Paylor Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Arlington Memory Gardens.
